OFTEC is the technical and marketing body for the oil firing industry. It was set up in 1991 by major Oil Companies, Oil Distributors and Manufacturers of oil firing equipment to improve standards throughout the industry and raise awareness about the benefits of oil heating and cooking. Also it runs a competent persons scheme under licence from the UK Government which demonstrates a technician’s competence in working with oil heating and cooking equipment. OFTEC is active in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and has approximately 1,000 registered technicians there.
