The biggest European energy event: EUSEW 2023

The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2023 took place from 20 to 22 June 2023. It is the biggest European annual conference dedicated to renewables and energy efficiency.

The yearly biggest European energy event had an Energy Fair with more than 35 stands, awards, and a series of locally organised Sustainable Energy Days.
The overarching theme was very timely: “Accelerating the clean energy transition – towards lower bills and greater skills”.

The policy conference is always the biggest hit: 7 plenary and 60 policy sessions covering topics related to skills, energy efficiency, affordability and inclusion, renewables, and decarbonisation. The sessions can be re-watched: EUSEW Interactive.

The first day addressed “Mobilising skills and youth for the green transition”. Day 2 was about “Putting consumers and energy efficiency first”. The last day focused on “Stepping into a carbon-free future”.

Eurofuel can only regret that when it comes to buildings decarbonisation, there only focus was on heat pumps. Although this is understandable in light of the upcoming EC Action Plan on Heat Pumps, there are other solutions which deserve to be discussed, such as liquid heating fuels.
There was however one session about liquid fuels (focusing on transport): a session was organized by the Renewable and Low-Carbon Fuels Value Chain Industrial (RCLF) alliance to present the progress achieved over the past year. Were discussed: project classification, availability of feedstock, interactions among value chains, model up-take agreements, and more generally the challenges and the opportunities connected with the energy transition.
