Position paper on the EU Heating and Cooling Strategy
Eurofuel, the European Liquid Heating Fuels Association, supports the European Commission’s initiative to create a comprehensive Heating and Cooling Strategy.
We strongly endorse the Commission’s aim to accelerate the clean energy transition and enhance energy system integration. However, we are concerned that the current framing of the initiative overlooks a vital part of the solution: renewable liquid heating fuels.
To succeed, the Heating and Cooling Strategy must embrace all viable solutions that contribute to decarbonisation, affordability, and energy security. Excluding renewable liquid fuels would risk leaving millions of households without a practical pathway to decarbonisation, especially in rural and off-grid areas.
