Heating and Cooling Strategy: Liquid fuel heating sector welcomes MEPs’ boost to energy upgrades

MEPs in the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee have called for prioritising modernisation of heating systems as an effective way of reducing the environmental footprint of the sector, along with the deployment of renewable sources.

Eurofuel welcomes the clear recognition of the energy savings potential by modernising heating appliances and the importance of supporting this in upcoming energy efficiency legislation, among others through financial incentives.

The parliamentary report also rightly acknowledged the importance of hybrid heating systems in the transition towards decarbonised heating.

Eurofuel is pleased to see the MEPs’ commitment to a technology neutral and cost efficient approach to heating and cooling and very positive wording about free consumer choice. However, Eurofuel argues that contradictory provisions should be removed to keep a neutral stance in the final resolution.
